# Orders

An order is how you purchase a property document — for example, a title search for a property.

:::info

**Billing:** `POST /api/v0/orders` is the only cost-incurring endpoint in the API. Placing an order charges your account based on the product ordered, and the land registry that fulfills the order.

## How it works

When you place an order, Fynd submits it to the relevant state land registry on your behalf. Most orders complete within a few seconds. Some are queued for processing and may take longer.

Once fulfilled, you receive:

- **A downloadable document** — the official title search PDF from the land registry.
- **Structured data** — key details extracted from the document, including registered owner names, the edition date, and the title reference. This data is returned alongside the PDF and can be used directly in your application without parsing the document yourself.

## Pricing

Every order response includes two top-level pricing fields:

| Field | Description |
| ------------ | --------------------------------------------- |
| `totalPrice` | Total amount charged, **including GST** (AUD) |
| `totalGst` | GST component of `totalPrice` (AUD) |

These fields are present on both the `POST /api/v0/orders` response (available immediately on order creation) and all `GET /api/v0/orders` responses. On GET endpoints, the values come from the order's invoice and will be `null` for orders that have no invoice (for example, free orders).

## Order lifecycle

Orders move through the following states:

| Status | Meaning |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Processing** | The order has been placed and Fynd is waiting on the land registry. |
| **Partial** | Registry data has been received and structured owner details are already available. The PDF document is still being generated. |
| **Complete** | The document is ready. The download link and all structured data are available. |
| **Expired** | The data retention window for this order has passed. Contact support if you need to re-access a document. |
| **Failed** | The order could not be fulfilled. Fynd's support team is automatically notified. |
| **Cancelled** | The order was cancelled, and a refund may have been issued. |

## Tracking your order

You can track an order two ways:

- **Webhooks** — Fynd sends a notification to your configured endpoint when the order status changes. This is the recommended approach for production integrations.
- **Polling** — Check the order status yourself by fetching it by ID until it shows as complete.
